The Holiness of God

February 15, 2026

It’s Sunday morning and as I sit beside my mother watching  hymns on-line, I ponder the greatness of God and miracle of Jesus.

My 96-year-old mother had a stroke 3 weeks ago and we sit together singing praises to the Lord. She loves the old hymns such as, The Old Rugged Cross, How Great Thou Art, and  I Walk in the Garden. All beautiful songs. We both can’t wait to see Jesus face to face.

I imagine going before God, who I am unworthy to gaze upon, and the fire of His holiness consuming my sinfulness, but Jesus steps in front of me, shielding me with His righteousness. I am saved because Jesus paid the price for my sin.

WOW!

I know this is a picture in my mind, but I it reminds me of 1 Corinthians  3:11 to 15 (NIV)

“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flame.”

Note: I believe in the Trinity, but just like John witnessed in the book of Revelation, I separated the Father from the Son in this image. They are separate yet one with the Holy Spirit.
